Food, food, food

The dinner friends went out on Wednesday and I took some food pictures.  First time we went to this place it was yummyyyy!!!

This was pulled pork on Jalapeno cornbread and fried onions.

This was some kind of taco's but I don't remember what kind lol.  You can also see low in the picture  popcorn someone ordered for the appetizer.  It was duck fat popcorn.  I was the only one that didn't seem to like it.  It seemed too salty tasting for me.

This was pork shank with garlic mashed potatoes.

This is the only picture I took correctly which was what I ordered, ha!  Ribs, french fries and an interesting Cole slaw.

Movie Tickets

So, I bought tickets online for the movies for the first time last Friday.  I always wanted to try it so it was the perfect opportunity.

Pro's - It was very easy and they texted me a web site with a link.  When we got to the theater, I just opened the link and the ticket taker scanned the bar code in.  It was actually pretty cool.  Made me feel very with it ;-)

Con's - Since we both were seniors (60 and over) the tickets would have been $14.00.  However, because I purchased them on line there was a surcharge for each ticket.  I paid $17.20 which is still better than paying for an adult ticket - not so much if I had only paid the senior price.

Conclusion - I probably would buy them online again but only if I knew it was going to be a very crowded movie and I would want to be assured I got a seat.

March thaw?

It's been in the 40's this week.  I've been able to sit on the patio.  I know this is just a teaser but it feels so good.

50 Shades of Grey

I took Magellan to see 50 Shades of Grey for her 60th birthday which was in February this past Friday.

For months I've been reading reviews and comments about the movie.   Mostly not good reviews but that did not deter me from going, ha!

I read the whole trilogy and Magellan had started reading the first book but didn't finish it.  She at least had an idea going in to see it, what it was about.

We both liked the movie.  Having read the book though, the movie was like a fast forward version of the book.  It was interesting to see what was included and what was not.  I was all for not hearing the voices in Ana's head lol but I think if I hadn't read the book I would have been wondering about some parts.

There were only 25 people in the theater, five of which were men.  Brave men... I would say...

Remembering

It was one year ago today, our dinner friend left us.  We toasted her last night at our regular scheduled dinner.  We miss you so much.  I often look at the pictures when we spent time at the cabin right before you went to palliative care and then hospice.

It's bittersweet now, friend, but I wouldn't have missed it for anything.

Friends

What would we do without them?  I don't drive and the person who doesn't want to be mentioned on the blog can't right now (for whatever reason ;-))

I've/we've had to hitch a ride with friends some lately or someone would bring me what we needed.  They have been wonderful!

It makes me wonder with all that's happening in the world, why everyone can't treat others like friends.

Too idealistic? Too kumbaya? ha!
