The Voice Voting

I thought I'd give my opinions on the voice before I find out who gets voted through tonight.

Team Christina:
Kimberly - I love anything this gal does.
India - Eh, didn't care for it.

Team Adam:
Josh - I liked him much better last night.

Team:  Pharrell:
Koryn - She blew me away last week, however, last night not so much.  I went back to the way I've felt about her from the beginning.  She's not for me.
Sawyer- Now that was the Sawyer that I loved the first time I saw him in the blind auditions.  I still think he's going to win.  Not sure I would vote for him though in the finals.

Team Blake:
Meghan - Her song just didn't do it for me although I still think she's good.
Hannah - To me, this was her worst performance.
Corey - I couldn't believe it but I actually liked him last night and thought this was his best moment to me.

Voted for:  Kimberly, Josh, Sawyer, Meghan, Corey and India.

Didn't vote for: Hannah and Koryn.  Could live with both of them going home.

Or, India and Corey I could live with either of them going even though I voted for them to stay.

The Voice

I think it's really been a very good season on the Voice this year.

Team Christina:
Kimberly - I think she could be a winner
India - I still like her but not as much as when she first started.

Team Adam:
Josh - He's okay. His last couple of songs weren't that great.

Team Pharrell:
Koryn - I didn't really care for her but on Monday she blew me away with her song.
Sawyer - I loved Sawyer from the start.  I don't know what happened when they went live, I just don't like his songs as much.  I have a feeling though that he will win, ha.

Team Blake:
Meghan - I think she could be a winner.
Hannah - I don't know that she's got a winning voice but I love her quirkiness and she certainly gives it her all when she's out there.
Corey - Ugh, what can I say.  He's got that country vote.  I don't get it compared to other country singers that Blake has had on his team I think he's pretty weak.

There's just something about the Save that seems very unfair to me because not everyone's got twitter.  But I guess The Voice/NBC doesn't care what I think.

Hospital & eating out again

Last week one day, we got a call that my sil was in the hospital and had to have stents put it.  My bil's girlfriend called.  Wow, what a surprise.

Turns out it was scheduled but we didn't know.  We went to visit her and she was still in recovery, waiting for a bed to open as she was going to spend the night.  She lives in a different county but was at the same hospital where my oncologist is.  Anyhow, she's home now.

When we were done visiting on the way home, hippie asked if I wanted to go for supper to a place in the neighborhood.  Now, hippie doesn't really like to go out to restaurants much so I jumped at the chance (especially since it's been a no cooking zone at home for me for awhile ;-)

We ate in the bar area and our neighbor from across the street was there and bought us drinks.  I ordered pierogi's and a salad.  Hippie had stuffed peppers.  We had enough to take some home for supper the next day.  It was a win win situation!

I can hear

Ever since I was young I've always had a lot of wax that built up in my ears (TMI, I know).  When I was young my mother would use a bobby pin to get it out.  I know doctors would be in horror if they knew but there it is.  My mother's idea of doctoring, although this was the 50's and 60's.  We only went to the doctor if we were really ill.

Anyhow, I've been getting them done by my regular doctor over the last few years which is good because I like to hear.  When I went a few months ago, the machine was broken and they were waiting for a part.  I paid for it and they were supposed to call.

My ears were getting worse.  I now have a portal that I can send a message to the office on the computer which I did asking if they got the machine part.

The next day sure enough I got a call from a girl setting me up an appointment to come in.  I can hear now. Thank goodness.

City Taxes

We live in a city with approximately 21,000 people.  Hippie went to get our city taxes done.  Even though he is retired, we still have had to pay them because of the fact that we paid a minimal amount for legal services through GM all these years (or something like that).  They finally ended that benefit and we thought we wouldn't have to pay anything this year.

Ha, ha because hippie had jury duty and got paid we had to pay taxes on it. A whole $1.80.  Seriously???

I couldn't believe it.  Hippie said it probably has more to do with if they are audited they have to make sure they have their I's dotted and their T's crossed.

It still seems ridiculous to me.

Spicy Food

On the way home from Magellan's treatment on Friday, her boyfriend asked if we would like to go out to dinner with them on Saturday to a Mexican Restaurant they wanted to try.  I'm not really keen on it.  I don't like spicy foods. We went anyhow lol.

If I do go I always get taco's with ground beef which is usually a safe bet for me.  I don't usually like the re-fried beans or the rice but I rather enjoyed them this time.  Could be my taste is changing - probably not though.

We got a pitcher of frozen strawberry Martguerita's.  Gosh, I haven't had one in years.  It was so tasty.

I really loved the decor of the restaurant.  Very authentic looking or how I think it would like a restaurant in Mexico.  They had several murals, and those sun things (I'm sure there is some significance but I'm too lazy to look it up) and also a Madonna.

On some tables they had this very large tube with a spicket on it filled with regular Martguerita's.  It was really tall and cool looking.  It held about 10 drinks.

I haven't gone out to eat so much like I have lately but I like it.

(By the way, the parking lot was very crowded.  There was a little shopping center next to the place and we were going to park in there.  As we were starting to get out of the vehicle, a man in a truck next to us opened a window and asked if we were going to the restaurant.  I said yes and he told me we couldn't park there.  He was wearing some kind of insignia on his shirt sleeve. We left and found a parking place.  He was probably a security guard and I get it that other stores don't want you using their lot but there were probably 50 open parking spaces, sheesh!  The only thing was I did tell Magellan's boyfriend at least he told us and didn't wait until we got into the restaurant and have us towed. So, there was that.)

Easter Dinner

Having Easter dinner at the restaurant was pretty awesome.    At the place we went from 2-7, they had two Easter specials ham or pork tenderloin.  When I called to make a reservation which wasn't until last week, they only had one place left which was a booth at 6.  (We were lucky I got anything)  I was concerned if everyone would be able to fit and if brother's mil who is 80 would be good with it but I took it.

It turns out we were seated in the bar area.  I was disappointed at first but the place we sat was half booth and half not, ha!  So there was bench seating with a table and chairs on the other side which worked out well.  There also weren't a lot of people seated in there which was nice.

I shared a bottle of Riesling with my brother.  I went with the traditional ham which came with au gratin potatoes, I asked for broccoli instead of asparagus (don't like it) and a fruit compote (which is not my thing but I brought it home for hippie.)  The thing was they were out of the pork tenderloin but those that ordered that opted for pork chops.  Brother got scallops with linguini.

We were full and brought home leftovers which we will have today.  Also, we took home dessert a big yummy cream puff.

I think we'll do it next year, I loved it.

Magellan

Magellan got through her last maintenance treatment with flying colors.

Her boyfriend dropped us off. Before though, I had him stop at a Starbucks and I bought us cafe mocha's to celebrate. (Also so I could stay awake.  I only had 4 hours of sleep)

One of our favorite nurses took care of Magellan today so that was a plus.  She's always good at putting in the IV.

When she's done being hooked up and the medicine starts, we always turn the lights off in the little room we're in.  She lays in bed.  (I didn't get a recliner today but I end up sitting across from her and put my feet on the bed, ha)

I'm glad she's done but I'm going to miss those hours of one on one talking and venting, or listening to ringtones and laughing.

She was lucky the massage therapist came and gave her a massage.

She was done earlier than usual.  I think they used to run the saline before the rituxan but I think they ran them together.

So after 6 months of chemo therapy, 2 years of maintenance she's done.  Sorry the pictures so dark but we hadn't turned the lights back on before I took the picture.

Random thoughts

1.  This year will probably be the least I've blogged.  It's not like I don't have things to say but sometimes they just seem silly ;-0

2.  Last year we didn't do Easter here because of my mom passing the month before.  In fact, hippie and I celebrated alone.  This year, I really didn't feel like making something again.  I talked to brother about going to a restaurant to eat.  I thought he would complain but he was okay with it.  We are going with him, his wife and his in-laws.  I think it will be fun and the most important thing is I won't have to stress about it.

3.  Tomorrow is Magellan's last maintenance treatment.  It's been a pretty long haul.  First chemo and then 2 years of maintenance.   She is excited and nervous.  Glad to be done but now she'll be on her own.  There is something comforting about having treatment and knowing you are doing something. I understand though.  Hopefully, she will be in remission forever this time.

4.  Son's girlfriend/fiance has been going for job interviews at universities and community colleges.  She has a job offer on the table right now but she has a couple more visits at universities and has to make a decision before then ugh!  Doesn't it figure?  I don't know what they are going to decide.

5.  The weather here has been pretty typical I guess.  Rain, cold, kinda warm lol.  I haven't had too much of a chance to sit in the patio but I'll get there pretty soon.

6.  The person I'm not supposed to mention is able to drive again ;-)

That's about it.  I hope everyone has a good Easter.  I'll write about our dinner which I hope is fabulous.
