She remembered when they first moved into the house. No furniture. No kids. All they had were each other. That first night they slept on the floor, drank wine and it happened. Red wine on the carpet.
"This is never going to come out," she thought as she scrubbed at the spot on the worn carpet.
Ralph always the tightwad and controller, would never replace it. All these years having to put a piece of furniture over it had taken its toll on her.
Just like she gave up on her marriage and divorced, she gave up on the carpet and started ripping it out. She was in control now and could do what she wanted.
OH YEAH! I love that she took control (for whatever reason, at whatever time) good for her! I liked this!!!
ReplyDeletew00t w00t! You rocked this, Viki! I could feel the anger of her scrubbing.

Oooo, great story. I love the empowerment she gets from ripping out the stained carpet.
ReplyDeleteNice! I hate carpet. Just one giant germ and dirt trap. LOVE my hardwood floors. We do have white (which idiot chose white for a FIREPLACE room??) that needs to come out...one of these days we will have saved enough. Nice Centus, giving her the power and control. I like that.
