Saturday Centus #36

It's Saturday Centus again - in a nutshell, Jenny Matlock gives us a prompt from either herself or a guest submitter and then we have to write 100 or words less related to the prompt (the prompt doesn't count toward the 100 words) Then link it up to her blog. It's open until the following Saturday, so that means you have all week to participate by either reading or writing. http://jennymatlock.blogspot.com/search/label/Saturday%20Centus

The prompt this week is a picture.

It was the first time they had taken a vacation in 20 years.  Their children for Christmas had bought them plane tickets and booked a hotel room for them in sunny Florida.

Harry and Sally jumped out of bed when they heard a knock on the door.  It was room service with their breakfast.  They sat at the little table drinking coffee, eating bacon, eggs and toast.

Harry grabbed the newspaper and started to read.  “Oh no” Harry said.

“What” Sally said.

He showed her a picture of  a frozen orange.  “I guess no swimming for us today”.

  2. This was a clever take on the prompt! But you know, a cold day in Florida is still better than most days anywhere else! Kat

  3. Shoot. Go figure!

(Maybe they can make a little heat themselves...)

  4. Most tourist are unaware of our cold winter's here in sunny Florida. It gets pretty cold here. Sort of like going to Montana in June and seeing snow.~Ames

  5. Actually, this was one of the solutions that first came to mind. But since I have never been to Florida (despite invitations from distant relatives who live there), I thought I would do better using material closer to home.
Glad I did not try even it. You have done an excellent job!
    Best wishes,

  6. I'm certain that Harry and Sally will be able to find other things to *ahem* occupy their time! Very fun read, Vicki!

  7. I have always been afraid of this very thing for any winter vacation. Habit makes us think late June--between snow and heat, hopefully after tornados and before hurricanes!

  13. Sa-weet! Harry & Sally, one of my all-time favorites, showing up in Florida. Of course it snowed. Sally is so high-maintenance it had to.

  15. I loved this story. I've had friends who have been in this position! They should leave the orange groves to Orange County, CA!
