I thought I was going to kick myself up the head trying to come up with a K word . My last name begins with a K but then I'd have to kill you all for knowing it j/k LOL.
I decided to go with Kielbasa LOL.
I grew up on the stuff since I am part Polish. We always ate fresh kielbasa but especially every holiday. My Mom always made the best kielbasa. I kid you not. I think I've only made kielbasa probably once or twice.
When I make it at home, I usually make Eckrich Kielbasa. I usually just put it in the oven with a little water and that's it. I was so happy years ago when I found out that they had skinless. For that kind, I really like it better.
Sometimes for holidays besides the fresh Mom would make Eckrich as well. She would put the already cooked kielbasa in with pork and beans and put it in the oven. We did this this past Christmas. I started making it since for a regular meal.
My sister-in-law, Christmas before last, made fresh kielbasa with sauerkraut. She knocked it out of the park. It tasted almost just like mom's.
If you like fresh kielbasa we are kindred spirits ;-)
Disclaimer: No one asked me to write about Eckrich, I did it all on my own ;-)
That's it for K - go over and check what others did for K. http://jennymatlock.blogspot.com/2010/03/alphabe-thursday-k.html

Thanks for your visit to my crow post. Yes, that movie did them no good, or any flock of birds for that matter. They are so attractive I think and quite remarkable...and they would never hurt you. We love kielbasa around here..usually have it with black beans and rice...peace
I love kielbasa. It reminds me of an old recipe I have somewhere with noodles and apples and I forget what else!
Thanks for sharing this post.
Your contribution really made Alphabe-Thursday especially tasty this week!
A+
My husband likes Kielbasa and a few years ago his sister was doing genealogy and we learned that his grandfather changed his last name and was really Polish. We never knew that and I guess it's in my husband's genes to like Kielbasa.
I love Kielbasa and now I'm hungry for it yum! I love it with steamed cabbage.
my husband loves those.. Yummy K for him and you..
Is Kielbasa the same as Polish sausage. If so we do like it here also. Hubs gets the Polish sausage on a homemade bun at a stand during the 4th of July celebration. Smothered with onions and green peppers.
We are definitely fans of kielbasa. We use it in our recipe for split pea soup. Delicious! Clever post, Vicki.
Kielbasa is Kool . I killed myself with a knife with this weeks post too. What is so wrong with telling us your last name ? lol your silly . look at me ? and about the sound on my video , NO it isn't just you . We didn't know how to use our camera so therefore there is no sound , thank God lol
Now there's two Vicki's that love Kielbasa (o:
I am a kindred spirit because I love kielbasa. I usually cook it with potatoes and onions. Joni
Mmmm... I do like Kielbasa and it's lunch time here. Your post is making me hungry. It's neat that Kielbasa is a genuine part of your family history and culture.
Kielbasa sound yummy will have to look them up on recipe site
I love kielbasa too!!! i like it with root veggies in kind of a stew ... tres yummy!
When we were kids and my mother would make it, I always thought of it as punishment!! LOL - Seriously! The only meat I disliked more was liver!
Almost everyone I know likes it. With sauerkraut
I love kielbasa. My husband's uncle was Polish, and he made it fresh too. Nothing beats homemade kielbasa! Thanks for stopping by, I enjoyed your story of the "escapee cat" :) Kathy
I love it and my husband doesn't. I make it on nights he has to work late.
Love KIELBASA! Great K word!!! Have a fun K Day!
kielbasa! yum! love it and thank you for writing something much more appetizing than I did, LOL
I am half Polish and like kielbasa. Not all kielbasa, but there are some folks my sister knows that make their own kielbasa, and it's soooo good. But I only get it when I visit my sister at Christmas and Easter.
Good Morning Viki,
I love Kielbasa! I've never had any homemade, however. I bet that is a "K"icker!! especially with sour "K"raut...yum-o
Thanks for sharing!! Have a great Easter weekend!
I'm not Polish, but I love kielbasa and sauerkraut, especially homemade!
What is kielbasa?
Sorry, but I'm a Brit living in France! I think I'll have to google it!
~Maggie~
Now I'm hungry ... and there's not a bit of kielbasa in the house!
Fun post :) .
Blessings,
Catherine
I really don't know what you are talking about.... You can eat that????? Then please give me the recipe.... Thanks for telling me that the link did not work? jenny repaird it.
i'm not one for kielbasa but great post :D
I like kielbasa as well...actually, I like most kinds of sausage ( except bratwurst ). Of course, they aren't the lowest calorie or low fat items you can eat but they taste so darn good...
comfort food at its best.
We must be kindred spirits - Fresh kielbasa is amazing. I like mine with some kraut (I like the cheap canned type) and German mustard with some fried potatoes.
Wow! Getting hungry, need to go pick up some lunch..
I love good kielbasa and I usually serve it with sauerkraut, yummy. This was a very tasty post.
The Road to Here
Good k-word! But I've never hear of kielbasa. If it is some kind of Polish sausage, I am sure that I must have tried it at some point. I used to date a Polish boy many years ago. I learned something about their food. I mean, tasting it, not what it's called!
Best wishes,
Anna

We're having both smoked and fresh on Sunday! We have it every Christmas and Easter. My mom still gets it from the same Polish deli my family's gotten it from for, oh, generations. I love it!!!
Thanks for sharing and for being a kindred spirit! Now many people get the "kielbasa on the holidays" tradition!
sheez. I just had some cooked cabbage for supper. Too bad there wasn't a little kielbasa to go with it. These food posts kill me.
Thanks for the salivating good time!
Keilbasa sauerkraut and mashed potatoes are one my favorite meals of all times. I have never had homemade, I bet it is fabulous.
I love kielbasa but never thought of it with baked beans - mmmmmm
Ok...Now I'm hungry!
Not a big fan myself but Farm Boy loves it! He's 100% polish. I do love perogie's though. We make them from scratch every year for Christmas. Mmmm, Mmmm good!!
Yumm! Love Keilbasa and other types of links! Especially agree with you on the skinless ones!
My grandma on my dad's side of the family actually started Hillshire farms. ...hm...makes me want to make some (but seeing that it's almost 10pm...I better not!)
Blessings & Aloha!
(sooo late...I'm the last of the class to turn in my K assignment! (thankfully, sweet Jenny is so forgiving on my tardiness!) ....and I'm late in seeing everyone else's fun posts! but...trying to make it before it's time for the L post!)
I love kielbasa...I never have had the real homemade kind though...sad huh?
