and it's mine, ugh.
I knew we were having trouble with our drain, by the stationary tub, in the basement, before we went on vacation in December. I thought I'll call when we get back. Then there was Christmas, New Years and I didn't bother.
Around 3 yesterday, I was doing a load of laundry and saw the water wasn't draining well. I flushed the toilet down there and up came more water from the drain.
I figured it was going to be the weekend and we would be stuck if it got worse. The rubber was meeting the road with this pretty quick so I called the city. They sent guys out to clean it from the street. I was happy, thrilled until dum, da, da, dum, they flooded the laundry room.
It wasn't really their fault, they were determined, had a challenge to get it unblocked. We had to keep turning on every faucet in the house and flushing the toilets. I kept telling hippie to tell them to stop when I saw what was happening down the basement but he didn't. I said we should just call a plumber and get it cleaned from the inside since that was where it seemed to be blocked now. They kept thinking they would get it unstopped.
Finally, admitting defeat they gave up. Luckily, they called the county to come. They said not to expect them until late. Surprisingly they came pretty quick. It took them less then 10 minutes to get it unclogged. The city guys had done most of the work but because of the way the sewer pipes are they couldn't get to where the paper was clogging it.
I was happy, thrilled, dum, da, da, dum, except for the mess down the basement. Thankfully, hippie is taking care of it. There's a bunch of stuff in the stationary tub that will need to be washed. Right now, he is washing the floor with bleach.
This isn't the first time this has happened but not to this extent. Hopefully, I learned my lesson.
