There once was a guy named Bob.

When his family emigrated from England, they settled into my hometown of Cleveland, Ohio.

He was a comedian, vaudevillian, actor, singer and author.

He did 57 tours with the USO for the troops.

He hosted the Oscars 18 times.

They used to say he had a ski nose.

He was an avid golfer.

He had a career for over 60 years.

If you still don’t know who he is think of “Thanks for the Memories.”  If you’re too young to remember, look Bob up on YouTube and you can hear him singing it.

Random thoughts

1.  I'm back to watching The Voice.  It must have been that I missed Christina and Ceelo that's why I didn't watch it the last time. I love it again.

2.  One morning I had to take a shower early for a doctor's appointment.  I had to turn the furnace on because it was pretty chilly in the house.  It was a good thing though at least I know it works before we have to have it on all the time.

3.  Something's wrong with the n on my keypad. I'm having to go back a lot to press it harder, ugh!

4.  I think I've moved on from romance novels and back to women's friendship books, at least for now.

5.  I had my six month check up with my oncologist.  I love that guy.  We're going to reevaluate at my next six month check up about going yearly, ha!

Random thoughts

1.  It's been chilly here the last few days, in the 60's.  Some nights even got into the high 40's.

2.  Magellan had her treatment and while there, we tried to figure out how to get library books on her new Nook she won in a raffle.  Ay yi yi!!

3.  I loved having my home cleaned.  It's so much easier to keep up now.  I'm having it done every two weeks.  She's coming again this Saturday.

4.  No more deer sightings.  Hippie is going to have to get rid of the vegetable plants for the winter anyhow.

5.  September 10th was our anniversary, 36 years wow.

6.  Hippie and his buddies always fish for walleye in spring and summer.  In September, they switch to perch.  So far, they have done well with the perch fishing this year.

7.  Mom went to the zoo.  She had a great time.  I'm lucky she's at a place that takes them places like that.

Duped

I started reading a breast cancer board in 2004.  Around 2006, a guy started posting on the caregiver's board about his friend.  They were life long friends.  In fact, she was his best friend.

He was married and had a child.  His friend, Jill, had been married but her husband died and she had a child as well.

Jeff came to the caregiver's board because Jill had breast cancer.  He went on and on describing what was happening until her death.  Jill wanted him to take her daughter and adopt her which Jeff and his wife did.  To say it was heartbreaking reading about this vibrant woman and her deterioration was an understatement.

Although he never asked for money, he did receive a lot of support from the board.  He also offered some as well.

Another blog I read, put me onto the fact that he had started a blog.  I read it and followed his life and that of Jill's daughter.  He didn't write a lot and one day the blog was just gone.

A few days ago, I went over to the support board as I only read it every few months now and not all the topics.  I come to find out that it was all a hoax.  His friend, Jill, the daughter, even the things he wrote on his own personal blog. There was a link to the people that discovered it was made up and who he really is.  Although he apologized (said he got carried away basically) he still denies they have his correct name.

I'm aware that people do this kind of stuff but it still stuns me especially the fact that he made up the fact that he knew someone that had cancer and died.

I hope there is a special place for people like him.  I'm going to be much more suspicious when some people delete their blogs.

“I’m here to help you.”

“What can you do?”

“Get you off these streets.”

“My friend wouldn’t like that.  It would cause trouble for you.”

“I’m used to trouble.  What’s your name?”

“Kitty.”

“My name is Myra.  Would you please let me help you?”

“Why would you want to do that?”

“I was where you are a long time ago.  I promised if I got out, I would help other women.”

“Oh, so you’re one of those” Kitty said rolling her eyes.

Myra smiled.  “Yes, I’m one of those.”

“Okay, I’ll come but I hope you know what you’re doing.”
