Happy Easter

I hope everyone has a great Easter.

The weather here has been up and down.  Cold then kinda warm.

The other day it was in the 30's and I wanted to sit on the patio.  I got a heater from a friend's husband.  It didn't make it warm but I was able to sit and read for a few hours.  I can't wait until I can open the windows!

Balloons & Fireworks

We went to my sil's house for 4th of July for a Bar-b-Que and to watch fireworks.  It was a pretty perfect day and night weather-wise.

There were hot air balloons. Click to enlarge

The food was delish.  The company was good.  The fireworks were awesome.  She lives a couple of blocks from the high school where they shoot them off so we get to sit on her back patio and grass, don't even have to go anywhere, lol.

We spent the night, got up early the next morning and left.  Fun times!

Easter Dinner

Having Easter dinner at the restaurant was pretty awesome.    At the place we went from 2-7, they had two Easter specials ham or pork tenderloin.  When I called to make a reservation which wasn't until last week, they only had one place left which was a booth at 6.  (We were lucky I got anything)  I was concerned if everyone would be able to fit and if brother's mil who is 80 would be good with it but I took it.

It turns out we were seated in the bar area.  I was disappointed at first but the place we sat was half booth and half not, ha!  So there was bench seating with a table and chairs on the other side which worked out well.  There also weren't a lot of people seated in there which was nice.

I shared a bottle of Riesling with my brother.  I went with the traditional ham which came with au gratin potatoes, I asked for broccoli instead of asparagus (don't like it) and a fruit compote (which is not my thing but I brought it home for hippie.)  The thing was they were out of the pork tenderloin but those that ordered that opted for pork chops.  Brother got scallops with linguini.

We were full and brought home leftovers which we will have today.  Also, we took home dessert a big yummy cream puff.

I think we'll do it next year, I loved it.

Out with the old, in with the new

2013 was a pretty good year for our immediate family.   No drama and everyone was in good health even Mom.

Other family members and friends did not fair as well.  I hope for a better year for them.

With the new year, they moved mom to a new room.  They are making her old room private.  She also left the wing that she's been on for four years.  It will be different for her and I'm hoping she will adjust well.  I think she will do better than me, ha!  The good thing about this room it is much larger than her other room.

I didn't make any resolutions, goals or intentions for 2014.   If I don't make them I won't have to worry about breaking them, lol.

Easter

I hope everyone had a good Easter.

We saw Mom in the morning and I brought her a couple of chocolate suckers from a candy store.  One was a rabbit and the other an Easter egg.

My brother and sister-in-law came over to eat.  Neither were feeling well so not too long after we ate they left.

Even though I gave them tons of food to take home, we have a lot left as usual.  I won't have to cook for a few days, Hallelujah...  Eventually I'll put some in the freezer.

When my brother went to see Mom before they came, they brought her a box of Angel Wings.

I'm sure when she went to bed for the night, she must have thought she was in heaven eating the chocolate and Angel Wings...who wouldn't?

St. Patrick's Day

Happy Saint Patrick's Day...

Magellan, another friend and I went out for breakfast this morning.

OMG, it was so good.  I had stuffed french toast It had strawberries, cream cheese and whipped cream.  Doesn't that just make your mouth water....Mmmmm...

Hippie picked up some corned beef and cabbage.  I haven't eaten any yet because I'm still full from breakfast. Hopefully, soon....

Thanksgiving

Things I’m Thankful for:

My family has been relatively healthy.

Mom still loves the nursing home.  She went to a Tea House this month and an actual bowling alley and even though she’s in a wheelchair she was still able to bowl.

We were able to go to Vegas to see our son and his girlfriend twice this year.

I still go out with my Dinner Friends once a month.  I’ve known most of them since our kids were young and we were in PTA together.

Magellan (my friend) has been having her chemo treatments.  Though they have been very difficult, she’s half way done.

We’re going to my brother’s house for Thanksgiving.  Yay!!  No cooking for us.

Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day everyone.  Even if you are not, you had a mother so LOL

When we went to see Mom this morning she was at a tea.  I was lucky and it had just started.  They had cookies, tea and entertainment.  It was fun.  Mom wanted some perfume so I bought her a bottle of Chantilly.  I remembered we used to buy it for her when we were kids.  Hopefully, when they put it on her she will remember.

Hope you had a beautiful day ;-)

2010-11

While 2010 is ending and 2011 will begin, I want to thank everyone that reads my blog.  I haven't been such a great blogger lately.  I don't know what the new year will bring for my blogging.  Can a person run out of things to say?

This year has been an okay year for me personally.  No big disasters which I'm grateful.

For some family and friends it's been not so good.  Whether it be financial, health,  family or relationship problems, I hope 2011 will be brighter for them.

I decided no resolutions this year or goals/aspirations/intentions.  I'm just going to try and take life as it comes and hope some changes for the good come about.

I wish all my blogging friends a happy, healthy and prosperous 2011 and be safe if you are going out to celebrate.

How was it?

Our Christmas was good but quiet.  We went to see Mom in the morning and spent time with her.

In the afternoon, my brother and his wife came.  We ate too much and talked.  We got gift certificates for Macy's which I wanted.  I've already got them spent. I just need to go and get what I want LOL.

Later we called our son.  They were going to go to a movie and then go out for Chinese food.

Now I need to get the bathroom walls washed before the in-laws Christmas but that's not for a couple of weeks.

How was your holiday?

Christmas Eve

This is going to be an unusual Christmas Eve.

My sil has to work until 4:00 and they always went to her brother's house after doing Christmas Eve with us.  It would have been too much of hassle.  We decided to change it for this year at least and will do it on Christmas Day.  Who knows this might be our new thing, ha.

As the years go on, I find more and more "traditions" are falling by the wayside.  It's a good thing the older I'm getting the more flexible I'm getting  LOL.  Not that traditions aren't important but as time goes on sometimes things change and it is what it is.

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas whenever you celebrate ;-)
