Magellan, her boyfriend, hippie and I went out Saturday for dinner. We ate a place that was like a 50's diner.
It was like crazy, man. I was on Cloud 9 when I had a chocolate milkshake.
I almost wished I had rolled up my jeans, had bobby socks on and penny loafers, ha. It was a pretty hip place, unreal!
Afterwards we went to a bar in the neighborhood and had a couple of drinks. I was like nodding off so we split and were home by 9 or 9:30.
See you later alligator....

Cinderella
Magellan and I got free tickets to see Cinderella at the Palace Theater in Playhouse Square on Tuesday. One of our Dinner Friends had tickets and she couldn't go and gave them to us. Did I mention they were FREE??
I LOVE, LOVE going to the theater but don't get to go often. Hippie's not much of a theater goer, ha! It's been over 5 years since I've gone with son.
I was excited because... well... it was a fairy tale musical in a theater production. Of course, I've seen the cartoon version, and years and years ago, I saw the TV version with Leslie Ann Warren. I didn't know what to expect. Of course no pictures were allowed. However, I did get one picture before it started.
Some of the songs I remembered and some I didn't. The tale was a little different than the original and it was much more funny. The cast was wonderful. I really have to make more of an effort to find someone who wants to do theater to go with me. Although a few of the Dinner Friends have talked about going to see The Phantom of the Opera again because it will be coming back next year. I've seen it 3 times I think.
There was a bar and we got some drinks. I got a glass of Riesling and Magellan got a drink called The Glass Slipper.
When we first found our seats and were sitting down Magellan spilled her drink on me and herself. Oy! It wasn't too bad though, thank goodness. Since we didn't have to pay for the tickets, we got valet parking which was much more civilized than having to walk to the parking lot, lol.
All in all, a very good night and a good July for doing some things!

What's been happening
Not much, mainly mundane things doctors, dentists. I have been sitting on the patio a lot. The weather has been mostly great for it.
I did go with Magellan and another dinner friend to a rib cook-off. There are many in Northeast Ohio but I've never gone to any. There was a particular band Magellan follows to different bars/clubs and they were going to be at this particular cook-off so we went.
I did buy some food but not ribs, a pulled pork sandwich. It was delicious. It was from a place in Texas.
We sat and watched the band, it was so fun. The opening act which is a female singer wasn't there for some reason so the group Magellan likes sang two sets. They sang mostly Motown which I love. It drizzled off and on. We almost left a couple of times but we stuck it out to the end.
I was disappointed a little when I noticed a Euclid Beach Ice Cream stand because I was filled up from the sandwich. Years ago on the Eastside of Cleveland, there was an amusement park called Euclid Beach Park. We used to go when I was little. It did close in 1969 though. They were quite famous for their popcorn and taffy (at least around here). A company still sells it and it can be ordered online. I vaguely remember they had good ice cream and they had a stand at the cook off. If I would have known I probably would have forgone the sandwich for the ice cream to see if I could remember what it tasted like.

Magellan the fangirl
Magellan and I went to a book signing for Regina Brett.
She is a columnist for the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
She's written 3 books and we've gone to 3 signings for them: God Never Blinks; Be the Miracle; and this last one God is Always Hiring.
For the first signing, we saw her speak at a bookstore.
The second signing was in downtown Cleveland at a breast cancer event I was invited to. (Regina is a breast cancer survivor)
This last signing was at The Gathering Place. It is a place where people going through cancer or survivors can go to talk, get free reiki, free wigs and many other things. There are 2 of them: east and westside.

Now I like Regina Brett but Magellan is a Fanatical Fan (with capitol F's). I really have to smile when she talks about how much she loves her. I would say she is kinda obsessed with her lol.
I have to admit though Regina gives a great talk, is very personable and funny. We had a good time.

Spicy Food
On the way home from Magellan's treatment on Friday, her boyfriend asked if we would like to go out to dinner with them on Saturday to a Mexican Restaurant they wanted to try. I'm not really keen on it. I don't like spicy foods. We went anyhow lol.
If I do go I always get taco's with ground beef which is usually a safe bet for me. I don't usually like the re-fried beans or the rice but I rather enjoyed them this time. Could be my taste is changing - probably not though.
We got a pitcher of frozen strawberry Martguerita's. Gosh, I haven't had one in years. It was so tasty.
I really loved the decor of the restaurant. Very authentic looking or how I think it would like a restaurant in Mexico. They had several murals, and those sun things (I'm sure there is some significance but I'm too lazy to look it up) and also a Madonna.
On some tables they had this very large tube with a spicket on it filled with regular Martguerita's. It was really tall and cool looking. It held about 10 drinks.
I haven't gone out to eat so much like I have lately but I like it.
(By the way, the parking lot was very crowded. There was a little shopping center next to the place and we were going to park in there. As we were starting to get out of the vehicle, a man in a truck next to us opened a window and asked if we were going to the restaurant. I said yes and he told me we couldn't park there. He was wearing some kind of insignia on his shirt sleeve. We left and found a parking place. He was probably a security guard and I get it that other stores don't want you using their lot but there were probably 50 open parking spaces, sheesh! The only thing was I did tell Magellan's boyfriend at least he told us and didn't wait until we got into the restaurant and have us towed. So, there was that.)
