On Halloween, I hit my foot running to the door to hand out candy to a trick or treater. It hurt like heck but I didn't think much about it. I've done it a thousand times before. About 3 weeks ago, it was still hurting and looked puffy. I made an appointment with a foot doctor but wasn't able to get in until today. I think because of the holidays.
I have a fracture in my little toe. Yikes, I should have went sooner. She taped it up and I have to wear this shoe for two weeks and go back. I also have to take something for the inflammation. Hopefully, it will be healing by then.

Me and Mom
Monday, I had my appointment with the oncologist. Luckily, everything seems to be okay. He said I could come back in a year but I said I'd be back in six months. I just don't feel comfortable waiting a year. I'll be stopping my medication that I'm taking in July from him because you are only supposed to take it for 5 years and time will be up. Then it will be scary. When I'm taking the medication I at least feel I'm still doing something. It will be strange to not have to take it.
So, I'll go in six months again. Be all nervous, for a month before I go and hopefully, everything will be good. I don't think I'll ever get over the feeling of being nervous when it's time to go.
Mom isn't doing so great. When we there on Friday I noticed her coughing a little. By the time we got there on Sunday they were doing breathing treatments on her. Monday as we were driving to see her the nurse called and mom was worse. They called the doctor and he put her back on oxygen. They were also going to do a chest x-ray. When we got there mom was not pleased with having to be on the oxygen but I could tell her cough was worse. Also, she had a problem with her roommate during the night. Because she was so aggravated about the oxygen and not being mobile I couldn't get a clear picture of what happened. The nurse said she had to report it to the director.
Tuesday when no one called about the x-ray, I finally was able to get a hold of the nurse. They put her on an antibiotic because she's been running a low grade fever. She doesn't have pneumonia but she does have congestive heart failure so they doubled the dose again for the water pill. Plus the breathing treatments and they will be checking her blood. The same nurse that was there Monday was there Tuesday and she said she thought mom was worse. When they were taking her to the day room, she said mom was having such a hard time breathing that she couldn't wheel herself down like she normally does.
I asked how it went with the roommate over night and I guess it went okay but the social worker is supposed to talk to the roommate some time.
Why is it, as soon as you get one thing off your mind something is always waiting to replace it, ugh!!! It's not like I don't have other things I have to work out. I'll have some cheese with my whine LOL.

Doctor
I had a regular doctor's appointment yesterday. It was mostly to check on my cholesterol. Since I started back on the cholesterol medicine on a regular basis, my cholesterol was excellent. I'm on a low dose and he's thinking of dropping it to 5mg. He probably would have written me a new script but I just ordered new pills.
Remember when everything happened with Mom and I lost all that weight, well it's back on. Plus, a couple of more pounds. I asked the doctor if it could be the anxiety medication. He said the medication could make you more hungry but if you eat a lot of junk food like a pig you just have to be more careful in what you eat. What a time to hear this just when the holidays are here.

Assume the position
Monday was my annual visit to the gynecologist. Oh Joy!! Usually on the way there, I complain and moan to Ron on how I hate going for my pap test. This time was a little different. I complained and moaned to my girlfriend instead;-) The van broke down and had to be taken to the shop in the morning, so my friend took me.
I had the first afternoon appointment. Then came the weigh in and they checked my height. I'm pretty sure I shrunk some. Unfortunately, more so the height than the weight LOL. After putting on the lovely gown, it was time to assume the position for the test and within seconds that part was done. I thought wow that was fast. I didn't even feel it. Then he says to me, did you notice I didn't give you a pap test, I'll explain when I'm done. He did the other exams (you women know what I'm talking about) and he started explaining about why no pap.
Turns out, the recommendation now is if you are over a certain age (which I clearly am) and have clear pap tests for so many years and don't have HPV (which they tested me for last year- I didn't even know) that you only need a pap every three years. I had read a while back about these recommendations but was still surprised. As much as I moaned about doing it every year, there was a level of comfort in having it done and knowing everything was okay. I'll have to think about this over the year and decide if I want to follow this or tell him I want it done next year. What do your doctor's say?
