I have a question. I notice some people every time I comment on their blog they email me. Some comment on their blog to me. Some don't do anything.
I fall into all three of these categories of what I do LOL. Do you pretty much stick to doing one thing? Why did you choose to do it that way? I'm thinking I need to pick one thing and stick to it but I'm not sure what ;-)
Edited: I don't think I made myself clear in this question. I'm talking about after commenting on a person's blog. Some people email and say thank you for commenting, etc. If I asked a question in the comment some people answer under my comment which I don't always think to go back and look.

I prefer myself Viki to visit the blog...blogging goes both ways, I want to see what you post as well. The only time I answer in an email is if I know I have visited. So my answer to you is visit the blog, we love COMMENTS:)

If you enjoy what you read, it's your way of saying....hello, enjoyed your blog enough today to send a word or two.
Email can be worrisome if you don't know the email addy. : )
I love to leave comments on blogs. I get the same thing also. Or people do both.
If they e-mail me I do my best to e-mail back.

I always go to their blog and comment there. That seems the best way to return the favor and I often find fun stuff on their blog. I have once or twice answered a question in my own comments but usually for the benefit of others reading it later - once I've commented on someone's blog, I never go back so I never see answers like that. I don't email after a comment. I'd rather someone just visit my blog, too. Good question!
I prefer to leave comments on the blog but sometimes use email to answer questions. I usually don't return to the blog to answer questions so I have to email. :D
I choose to visit the commentator's blog back rather than replying to their comment, because like you said, people don't come back. If they ask a question, I'll leave an answer on their blog.
So I think, comment back on their blog seems to be working out best for me..
I receive all my comments in my email because I set it up that way. To those fine folks who have an email associated with their blogs, I send an email response. To those that don't, I don't. It is very definitely a time constraint issue.
I make it my practice to visit the blogs of anyone who comments on my blog though.
I leave my comments on the blog - if someone asks me a question and has an email address posted I'll answer by email, otherwise I'll answer in my next comment on their post. I don't display an email address, and I suppose that leaves me out of some things, but so far this method has worked for me.
