Saturday Centus #3

It's Saturday Centus Day.  Go over to Jenny's to see what people wrote for their 100 words minus the prompt.  http://jennymatlock.blogspot.com/2010/05/saturday-centus-week-3.html

I look back over my shoulder, squinting into the late afternoon sun, gawking with stunned alarm at the broad rolling muddy waters of the Mississippi.

All of a sudden I see something rising up out of the water.  Its huge, muddy and the ugliest monster I've ever seen in my life and then I'm awake.

Hours later the dream is still bothering me although by now I've forgotten exactly what the monster looked like.  I decide to go check out the Mississippi with a little trepidation.

As I go back to the place in the dream, all I see is the beautiful Mississippi clear and clean as always.  I wonder if this an omen,  just a nightmare or both.

Ack! Swamp Thing! I hope she gets a photo of it for the National Enquirer... that would be a good ending. :)

It's funny...I almost did a river monster story myself when I first pondered the prompt! I like that yours was a dream....or an omen....or both!

Nicely done putting this in a nightmare that won't go away even when you do a reality-check of the river.

Oh I suspect it is both, a dream and omen...I wonder what would happen if it came true...

Nice job...funny thing, dreams must be in the air...or the water:-) I just posted mine with a dream reference. I think I will like this creative writing exercise, especially reading other's work...Peace
