October Breast Cancer Awareness

I want to start off breast cancer awareness month with a reminder to get a mammogram if you haven't....  It could save your life.

About 70% to 80% of women diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history of it.

Breast cancer awareness also means to me, to be aware that there are 1000's and 1000's of women living with Stage 4 breast cancer.  There is no cure for them yet. They are old, young,  grandmothers, mothers, married and single women.

Estimated statistics from the National Institute of Health for 2010:
New cases: 207,090 (female); 1,970 (male)
Deaths: 39,840 (female); 390 (male)

Going this month, like I do every year! Thanks for the awareness and the much needed reminder.

This one's close to my heart in more ways than one. Thank you for checking the stats. They're overwhelming yet we CAN make a difference with our voices.

Love your header and REALLY appreciate you posting about it.

I get frustrated when women tell me that no one in their family has had breast cancer, so they aren't concerned.

The statistics are alarming and someone always has to be first in the family. We have to make sure we do our best to see it isn't us.
