It just keeps getting better
So, hippie and I are waiting at the foot doctor's office yesterday. My appointment was at 4. We got there early and there was no one in the office. We're thinking this is good - we'll be in and out. Yay!!
I hear some chit chat in behind the glass about someone coming in for a courtesy appointment.
Two people come in and they go in before us. I'm thinking they must have had appointments before me maybe they were just a little late.
It was after 4, finally the receptionist asked me who I was waiting to see.
I said " the doctor."
She said "We thought you were having an appointment with Michael ... the rep for the ultrasound."
I said "No, I already had that."
Apparently, when I overheard them talking about the courtesy appointment it was for me. Darn!!
I don't know how but they screwed up who I was supposed to see that's why I wasn't called back.
Eventually, they came and got me and I got to see the doctor. Thank goodness she hadn't left.
I've only been doing the ultrasound for about 9 days. She couldn't see any improvement on the x-ray but she thinks it might be getting better because when she touched my toe it didn't hurt. Whereas before, I would wince when she touched it.
I've got a couple of sores on my toes from the tape. So for now, no more tape, I just have to wear the shoe and come back in 2 weeks.
Luckily, when I went in the morning to get my permanent crown put on it was a breeze. So it wasn't a total screw up kind of day.

Spoiled
I have to go for a regular doctor's appointment next week. I had to get a fasting blood test before I go to see him. I finally bit the bullet (so to speak) and went yesterday. Why is it when you know you can't eat or drink that's when you want to the most? ugh!!
There's a lab in the basement where his office is that I always go to (much faster). When I went into the building, there was a sign saying the lab was closed because of flooding. I needed to go to where the outpatient clinic was.
I had never gone before and it was only three buildings down, so not so bad until I get in there. It took 45 minutes before they registered me, and like 5 minutes after that to get the blood test.
I realized after that I've been spoiled by that little lab, ha!!

Oscars
Although I haven't seen any of the movies, I watched The Academy Awards. There looked like their were some good movies that I will have to keep my eyes out for when they come on TV.
How cute was Jennifer Lawrence? I'm surprised that more women don't fall down going up to get their awards.
It was a long show (per usual) but I thought overall it was pretty good.

“That was a lot of tossing and turning last night, I take it your still
angry.”
“Aren’t you perceptive” she hissed.
“Without you around, I sleep like a baby.”
“Ouch…I know I messed up.”
“Yeah, you did.”
“I’m sorry.”
“You always say that.”
“I can’t help myself, baby. When
I go to these functions where your boss is, I just can’t be nice to him. He treats you so poorly.”
“I know. It’s stressful enough for
me without you adding to it.”
“I can’t wait until you can quit.”
“Me either. Can you just try to be
nicer?”
“I’ll try” and they hugged.

Mary #49
This is a continuing story. If you want to read from the beginning,
please go to my side bar to the labels and click on story-Mary or click here.
“You nut.”
“Quick or long?"
49
Mary felt breathing on her face.
“Get out of her Lulu, I’m trying to sleep.”
“Get out of her Lulu, I’m trying to sleep.”
“Meow” she heard.
When she looked she saw it was Elizabeth sitting on the floor right by her.
When she looked she saw it was Elizabeth sitting on the floor right by her.
“You nut.”
“Are you going to get up sleepy head? It’s already 10.”
“It is. Wow”
“You were sleeping like a log when I came down. I made coffee and I’ve been waiting for you
to get up. I couldn’t stand it
anymore. How did it go with Eli last
night?”
“Let’s just say wonderful comes to mind when I think of it” and
she smiled.
“Oh boy, spill it.”
Mary got up and said “Let me go to the bathroom first. I’ll be right back” and she went upstairs.
When she got done and came downstairs she went in the kitchen and
Elizabeth was talking on the phone. She
went and grabbed a cup of coffee.
“Jimmy will come. Thanks for calling. Bye…” and she hung up. “That was the funeral director. Mitch’s ashes are ready to be picked up.”
“Oh, I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay. I knew he would
probably be calling soon. I asked Jimmy
a while ago if he would pick them up for me when the time came. I’ll just have to call and tell him. You’re lucky you have Jimmy.”
“I’m beginning to find that out” Mary said.
Elizabeth dialed the phone... “Hi Jimmy… I’m doing fine… Look I got the call from the funeral
director. Mitch’s ashes are ready to be
picked up… Anytime you want…Yes that
would be great…No, take them to my house…I don’t know… Just put it on the
fireplace mantle…Don’t worry about me…Thanks I’ll talk to you later. Bye” and she hung up.
Elizabeth got up and got herself a cup of coffee and sat
down. She had tears in her eyes and Mary
got up and hugged her. “I’ll be all
right. It’s just going to take me a
minute.” And they sat their quietly for a while.
“So” Elizabeth said “Take my mind off things. What happened last night?”
“After you went to bed we finished eating. I cleaned up the kitchen, he made a fire then
we watched some comedian on TV. Oh for
part of the time he had his arm around me while we watched TV” and Mary smiled
at Elizabeth.
“Then what happened “she asked impatiently.
“Well, there isn’t really a lot more to tell. He left around 11, and I walked him out
again. We said goodbye and then I turned
to go back in the house and he touched my shoulder. I turned around and he kissed me.”
“Quick or long?"
“Oh, I would say prettyyy long.”
“I think that’s fantastic.
Did he ask you out?”
“No, but I mentioned to him how cold it’s been in here. That’s why he made the fire. I told him I
thought there might be something wrong with the furnace. He’s going to come over today to look at it.”
“He knows about them?”
“Apparently, his dad used to work on them and showed him."
“Did you tell him about the B&B?”
“Yes I did. He also
volunteered to help with getting it ready until he has to get ready for the
planting season.”
“He’s got it bad for you girl” and she sighed.
“I don’t know about that. I
do know I really like him” and she blushed.
“I’m happy for you. He
seems to be nice. I wish I could have
gotten to know him a little better last night but it seems like there will be
plenty of time for that. Did you date a
lot in while you were in New York?”
“Occasionally, but never anyone long term, I never seemed to click
with anyone.”
“See you had to come home to find someone.”
“Technically, he’s from California.”
“I know but it seems he is a country boy at heart.”
Mary’s phone started ringing “Hello…Yes, we’ll be here…See you
then. Bye.”
Elizabeth looked at Mary.
“He’ll be here about 3. Is
there anything you wanted to do today?”
“I was thinking of calling Jody or Donna and see if they were
available to take me wig and scarf shopping.
I feel pretty good today so far and I thought I should get it done.”
“I can do that.”
“Don’t you want to get all dolled up?”
“For Eli to look at the furnace? Nah, I’ll just freshen up before
he comes. Really, I can take you.”
“Okay, go get dressed. I’m
already looking as good as I’m going to get for the day. Unless you’re hungry, we can go when you’re
ready.”
“I’m not really hungry.
I’ll be back in a few minutes” and Mary went to get dressed.

Ultrasound
Hippie and I met up with the salesman at the doctor's office on Friday about the ultrasound for my toe.
Still not sure if the insurance is going to pay for it but somehow it will all work out, I suppose.
It took about five minutes for him to explain/show how to use it.
The machine is coming by Fed X, maybe today.
I asked him how long I would need to use it before it worked.
He said it could be weeks or months. I'm hoping for weeks.
We'll see...

“Tom, I have something I need to talk to you about.”
“Um… it’s Friday, bowling night.”
“Don’t go. We need to talk, please.”
“I’ll be late” he said leaving.
She picked up the phone and called her girlfriend. “I’ve officially reached critical mass. It’s time.”
“Okay, you can stay here” and they hung up.
Like a robot, she went to the bedroom, got her suitcases
and packed.
She reread the letter. The woman said they’d been meeting every
Friday night for years.
She took her wedding rings off, putting them on the kitchen
counter on top of the letter and walked out.
