Albhabe-Thursday

My letter C is for crafts.  I thought I had two boxes of craft stuff but I was wrong.  Thank goodness I'm wasting less than I thought.  I thought I'd show you some of them.

Years and years ago, I used to do counted cross stitch.  Then my eyes weren't so good and I stopped.  I bought two pictures for my bathroom.  One I completed but never put in a frame and the other one I got partially done and I have no idea why it is in a frame, but it isn't completed.  I don't know if I ever will.  I'm thinking I should probably just get the one I have done framed and hang it LOL.

Then here's a Christmas counted cross stitch I started and never finished.  I'm thinking of just ending it where it is and framing just the words.  I doubt I will complete the rest of this either.

Then there are a few counted cross stitch things that I've opened but never started.  If I showed you all of them you would never get done with this post.
Awhile back I bought these angels to paint and wooden ornaments.  Never did.  If I want to do them, I have to buy new paint because they dried up.  Who knew if you didn't use it it would dry up ;-)

I also have these hearts I bought.  When my son was in 1st grade and I was room mother for Valentine's Day, I painted bigger hearts red and put the kids initials on them and put magnets on the back.  I think I must have bought these thinking I was going to do something with them for the following year and didn't end up using them.

I think that was the year Magellan and I made these really cute mouse bookmarks for the kids. I don't have a picture of one that is finished but I found this. It's just the head part and the eyes are missing LOL.  Also by the top of the head should be a long white piece but I think you can get an idea of what it's supposed to look like.  I think kids would even enjoy making them.  Although it was a little hard to cut the felt but if someone cut the felt the kids could just glue it together.

I think you've all seen that I have a lot of unfinished craft stuff and that's about all for my letter C. We won't even talk about the big hooked rug I was going to hang on a wall that's never been finished ;-)  Does anyone else have a lot of unfinished craft stuff in hopes of finishing them one day?

Now go over to Jenny's and see what others picked for their letter C.  There are some very creative people there posting.  Trust me you WON'T be disappointed if you go http://jennymatlock.blogspot.com/2010/02/alphabe-thursday-c_03.html

I don't know how to add the widget/gadget on my post.  Sorry Mrs. M

We must have been twins seperated at birth. I have so many unfinished projects it isn't even funny. I used to cross stitch too, but my eyes will no longer cooperate. I ended up donating most of my counted cross stitch stuff. I hope someone finished the uncompleted projects. Now I buy completed and framed counted cross stitch in resale shops. :)

There's a lady with a blog called Out Of The Projects. She only posts when she completes a project. She hasn't posted since December.

Oh man, this post made me wiggle a little bit in my chair with guilt. I think I have all those things, too. Don't they call these UFO's? Yea, my craft cabinet is a regular Area 51!

thanks for making me feel like part of a tribe...i have a christmas embroidery that I started when I was 12 years old....i will be 44 this month! i have carried it with me, in an old shoe box all of these years, it's traveled with me, been in storage..and in countless closets. I came across it the other day and blushed in shame. It is now vintage and unfinished!

Your crafts are CUTE!!!

We all have a few UFO's it seems. Finish the ones you still like and pass the others on to someone else who appreciates them.
The little heart mice are really cute!

This made me laugh, I have alot more unfinished projects than finished ones! Not crafts, just general stuff around the house. The mouse bookmark is an adorable idea, I'm going to share it with friends that still have little ones. Kathy

I too used to do counted cross stitch. I do have one framed piece in my front entry. Most of the time I would do them as gifts so they would get completed however, I do believe I have a few laying around that I haven't completed. I also have a couple of knitting projects on sticks that I haven't completed (and really don't see myself completing)...

I think you are not alone!

Since I discovered blogging and scrapbooking all my other hobbies have fallen by the wayside.
Now, where did I put that unfinished embroidered cushion cover??

Oh, I think we all have a basket or box full of those unfinished projects. I know I do! Last year I decided to begin working my way through my basket of unfinished needlepoint projects. I'm proud to say I've made real progress.

I did cross stitch too! It took me over a year to do a Beatrix Potter Alphabet sampler for my daughter. That thing's huge! I never wanted to cross stitch again! What's funny is that I did frame it and didn't realize at the time that there was a spot of my blood I had neglected to clean up when I pricked my finger with a needle.

Oh my goodness, your post made me laugh! I finally started donating unfinished crafts and unused craft supplies to local thrift stores-- it helps with the guilt...

Oh my...you only have 2 boxes of craft stuff! I would be ashamed to show all mine! oh yes I have many, many UFOs.

Oh my I have a multitude of unfinished things. I wish I could say I only have 1 or 2 boxes but that would not be the case. I think for everything I finish there are 2 waiting to be worked on.

okay, if i showed you all of my unfinished quilts you would cry ... i think starting something and then just not getting it done is pretty common!

I'm sooo not crafty! I've tried all those things you shared, but nope...just wasn't born with the craft gene I guess! I wind up gluing my hands together, or pricking my fingers with needles til they bleed!

Thanks for stopping by my blog!! I hope to read more of your's soon!

I carried around unfinished craft projects for years and FINALLY said I'm not going to do them and I got rid of them and the guilt! Nice...loved counted cross stitch but like you my eyes have said enough. Enjoyed your C post!

I was feeling guilty because I have a daybed full of unfinished projects! We must be kindred spirits. That mouse is adorable...might try it with my grandson.

I am insane about finishing things so I am on the other end of the scale...somewhere we should just try to meet in the middle...Balance? what is balance?
there is always time to finish them though...that is the good news...

I am starting to wonder if there's something about a crafter's brain that doesn't allow them to finish everything. I have so many half-done projects sitting in my cupboards!

I would frame the unfinished Christmas cross stitch as is. It's beautiful.

The only cross-stitching I could ever do was small holiday ornaments that I could stitch in one evening. I just never developed the patience for larger projects.

I always have tons of yarn laying around that I start crocheting but never finish. I'm currently working on an afghan which I hope I manage to finish once we get settled in our move...

Love your cross stitch, I did that for years as well. I don;t care for counted cross stitch, I like the stamped kind. have a great day.
