Alphabe-Thursday

For the letter W, I decided on wedding garb.

I've been in four weddings, five when you count mine.  Naturally, I've never been able to wear any of the dresses again but they weren't awful (or at least I didn't think so).

The first wedding was my cousin's and I don't have an individual picture of it.  I was pretty young.

The second wedding was the sister of the previous wedding I was in.  As you can see it was a lovely yellow dress.  Don't you just love the daisy bouquet ;-)?

Then I was in my girlfriend's wedding.  In this blue number.  At the time I loved the hood.  I thought it was very unusual. I never saw something like this before.

The last time I was a bridesmaid was when my youngest brother got married.  Me, my husband and son were all in the wedding.  Here are two pictures.  It was purple as you can see.  Although I liked the backless part of the dress, it was hard to keep the girl's up at the time as evidenced by the second picture  ;-)

These next few were from my wedding.  This first one is of me and my matron of honor ( I wore the blue hooded dress in her wedding).   This was what my bridesmaids dresses looked like.  She was the friend that I went jobbin' with, ha.  Their dresses were a peach color.

This next I wanted to show the top of my dress and the veil. I loved this dress. I also loved how the little flowers went down the whole outside of the veil  ;-)

This next one is a picture of the train.  At the reception, we just put it in a bustle.

I still have my dress up in the attic.  It's supposed to be hermetically sealed in a gold box.  I haven't seen it for years though, so I don't know if it still is, ha.

I could go on and on showing wedding pictures but I won't.    I have one last to show of the wedding cake and then I'll be done.  I don't know why but it shows up more orange but it really was more of a peachy color.

I hope you enjoyed my little trip down memory lane with some of the wedding garb I've worn over the years.

Okay, now it's time to go over to Alphabe-Thursday at Jenny's to see what others came up with for the letter W http://jennymatlock.blogspot.com/2010/06/alphabe-thursday-w.html

I was in three weddings outside my own. I had to wear navy blue long dresses in all three.

I love the peach dresses you chose. The veil is so pretty. The flowers really were a great touch.

I think I have been in 13 weddings, plus my own. I have a lot of one time use dresses! I did say the last time that the only way I am going to be in a wedding again is as the mother of the bride or groom! I love your pictures - your dress is absolutely beautiful!

What great memories! the dresses were unusual and I am sure that it would be hard to wear them again. I adore your veil, it is so sweet.

Ah that was sweet--especially with my own wedding anniversary coming up in a couple of months! I love those dresses--but you're right--they don't get worn again very often!

That veil is beautiful. And so are you...in all of the pictures.

When I saw the yellow dress I thought for a moment of that movie "27 Dresses"!

What a wonderful, romantic stop on our little journey through Alphabe-Thursday's letter "W"!

A+

I always enjoy wedding photos - I remember the sample albums that photographers used to have - I liked to look at all the weddings of people I'd never met!

Vintage wedding dresses can be fun and funny, but not nearly as funny as vintage bridesmaids dresses.

Viki, my bridesmaids in my first wedding wore that very same peach color.

I love your train!!

Your wedding dress is too die for beautiful! I, too, love the flower detail of the veil but I also adore the lace detail of the dress itself.

It's interesting to look at all the different dresses in the past! They were charming, and unique! Nowadays, dresses are just way too revealing..

Your hair in the picture with the yellow dress cracks me up. The hood? Remember that fashion trend too. We must be close to the same age since I remember each and every style I saw here.

I think everyone loves a wedding, Viki, especially if it's someone elses. I also chose wedding - the first of my three sons married May 7th. I'd already done one blog about it but I have hundreds of pictures so I thought I would add some new ones. Laura was a spectacular bride. I adore her. They began dating six years ago and have lived together for the last three so I am glad they finally took this step!

Loved your pictures.

At 65, I've done it! My poetry book - Life's Journey by Carmen Henesy - is out on Amazon!

I absolutely LOVE seeing people's wedding pictures. You were so beautiful in all of them! I've been in six weddings counting my own. Wish I'd saved all the dresses, but I'm working on not being a pack rat. Thanks so much for sharing this with us.

Thanks for taking us down the lovely stroll in memory lane. I saved all my bride's maid dresses - there were 4 - and now my granddaughters play "dress-up" in them!

Great trip!! It is funny that you can totally tell the time period by the style of the bridesmaid dresses!! Your wedding dress was just lovely!

You did get me thinking about all the weddings I have been in and the dresses I have worn (4 brothers and countless friends), let's see at least 10) I will be thinking about that all day now!

What a great choice for your W post. I love your dress and veil, just beautiful! And I totally remember when those hooded dresses were all the rage. My favorite of the bridesmaid dresses is the yellow, I love daisies. Kathy

Oh! I love looking at wedding photos :o) Wow you have been in quite a number of weddings! And I really do love your veil with the flowers down the sides. You are such a beautiful bride and so petite!

Blessings & Aloha!
(I had thought of weddings for W too...but since I have not yet found my favorite wedding photo-the only one of my mom's mom and dad, I thought I would wait...so hopefully I will find it before the next round of "W' posts. :o)

It's funny to think back on the dresses you've worn in other weddings! My SIL is planning a wedding now, so much to think about. My dress is sealed in a box also. I often wonder if it's really in there too!
