Alphabe-Thursday

I had a hard time deciding what to do for the letter O.  First I thought I would do October for Breast Cancer Awareness month.  Then I thought the obvious Ohio.  But then I came up with the Old Stone Church in downtown Cleveland.  It is an historic Church.  It was added to the National Register of Historical Places in 1973.

It is a Presbyterian Church.  I always marveled at it when I would go downtown because it is right in the center of downtown on Public Square. Its been there since the 1800's.  It has a very interesting history.   Here is a link if you'd like to find out more about the Church -  Old Stone Church

Besides all the history involved with the Church, it is historical to me because my husband and I got married there.  When we were looking for a Church to get married in neither of us belonged to one.  We were very opened minded and we decided that the Old Stone Church would be the place.  Since my husband's family was from farther out they could get their easily from the freeway.  We also thought how often could you get married in an historical Church.

I had never been in the Church but I knew it would be beautiful.  The first time when we had to go see the reverend for our classes and saw the Church inside it was as beautiful as I imagined.  Even though we didn't belong to that Church everyone there was outstanding to us and made us feel like we belonged.  Here are a couple of pictures the photographer took.

Viki,
What a lovely church to be married in and the fact that it is historic is a big plus to me. I love old buildings, they have so much character! I live in a house built in 1927 so you know I love old things! Thanks for the additional link!

When I first saw the title I thought this might be about a nearby place with the same name where musicians gather to create magic. Doesn't matter that it wasn't cuz this is so much sweeter than anything anyone could have written about that Old Stone Church.

I am a fan of old, historic, vintage, antique anything, but when it's a church you know that it holds the happiest and the saddest memories of those who attended. Neat!

Just a beautiful space to have your wedding! You are so lucky. When I got married, the only churches in my town were weird modern buildings that had no character. I would have given my eye-teeth to get married in a lovely old stone church.
